Submitting Images

You can submit images for games on the simExchange to promote the game's awesome graphics, what a new feature looks like, or whatever you want as long as it's on topic with where you are posting the image. It does not even have to be a screen shot.

To submit an image, simply click on the Submit an Image link in the Images heading on a game's stock page. The link looks like this:

Clicking on the link will load the following form on the right side of the window:

Short caption

This field is optional but helps other people know what is going on in the image. Do you want them to be thinking "Killer graphics!" or see some new feature in the game? An image might appear pretty lame if people don't know what you think is so special about it.

Full Size Image URL

This field is the link to get to the full size image. This can be a webpage (like something that ends in .html) or an actual image (something that ends in .jpg or .gif). It is best to use the webpage if it is available so that the user can get a full view of the context. If the address is not available (like in a pop-up), then simply right click on the thumbnail image and choose the equivalent of "Copy Image Address" then paste that into the field.

An http:// is required with the link and is already provided for you in the field. If you are copying and pasting a link with an http:// already in it, be sure to paste OVER the existing http:// in the field.

Thumbnail Picture File URL

Big pictures take a long time to load. This field is the address of a small image to show as a thumbnail preview on the simExchange. This must be an actual image file (something that ends in .jpg or .gif).

Many sites offer their images in a page full of thumnail previews that open to a larger version of the image. Simply right click on the thumbnail image and choose the equivalent of "Copy Image Address" then paste that into the field.

An http:// is required with the link and is already provided for you in the field. If you are copying and pasting a link with an http:// already in it, be sure to paste OVER the existing http:// in the field.

Source

The Source field is the name of the website or publication. What does the publication call itself? It is always best to be linking to the original source, but if all you can find is the reprint, you can just write the original source in the Source field. User your judgment, but it's always good to give credit where it's due.

Date of Screenshot

This field is for when the screenshot (or any image) was born or became public or whatever the website put as the date. If no date is available, select "NA" for Month, Day, and Year.

Then hit Submit and your image will be ready to be seen by the world!

Editing your images

Oops! What if you submitted your image and just made a mistake? No worries. You can edit your image submissions. All you have to do is go to Your Images.

Under each image submission, you will find a "Edit this Image" link. Just click on it and it will load a form to edit your image submission. Voila!
