Changes to SimExchange
We've made some changes to the web site over the last couple of days. Our goal is to simplify the SimExchange so that new users are less likely to get confused and/or lost on the web site. Changes include:
* Relabeling links and terms to be more obvious of their function. Example: Instead of "wiki summary" it is now "edit summary."
* Consolidating navigation into the right column of the website (where the Order Book is located) and simplifying the layout to 2 columns.
* Removed features that weren't being used, such as image and video submissions.
* In the interest of getting more GLS stocks listed, we will be listing games one-by-one rather than waiting for a group. Please check the Upcoming IPO calendar on the blog. We will no longer dedicate blog posts to GLS stock IPOs; rather, we will simply make a comment in the forum.
Other changes we are considering include changing the currency from "DKP" to something more straightforward like "S$." Certain terminology on the site has always been obstacles of confusion for players. Your suggestions are always welcome. Please let us know what you think may be confusing and what we can do to change the web site for the better.

I never said it wasn't relevant to your interest, but you would know where to look. Your amazing comprehension and ability to be trolled never ceases to amaze me.
But more to the point:
What is definitely irrelevant to current stock prices, is what you or anyone said a year ago. In this form, sorting by subject is only useful for extremely old comments. There should be an option to view it sequentially or grouped by subject.

I agree that there should be an option for either, but it should default to most recent (from a UI perspective).
I'm more interested in what the last 5 posts were, not the last 5 dead threads. It's not a forum, and what say, Lorenzo posted last year is fairly irrelevant to anyone's interest ([ Veteran ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 878 ]bids
6Additionally, I think the main problems with keeping interest on TSE is that the games for trading get stale. Unlike Hollywood stock exchange where all the stocks are upcoming movies or movies 4 weeks old at the most, a vast portion of the stocks on TSE are a year old! Perhaps delisting games can be more aggressive and listing new titles also more aggressive.
The other problem is there are no clear sales numbers for players to trade against. Movies have box office numbers every week to keep markets dynamic. Here, we're all just guessing...and for most casual gamers, its beyond them.[ Guru ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 219 ]bids

Are you saying how the comments on the bottom of the game pages are organized by threads? I liked how it used to just show the most recent comments. Maybe it should show both?
I do like the target price idea though. The page should permanently show the player's name & price target, and maybe order the recommendations by the players' ranks? Because we lose the stock targets in the forum after a while.[ Guru ] [ Level 21 ] [ Rank: 219 ]bids

1100% in favour of the rational for the changes. I have a small problem with aesthetics. A number of the boxes just seem overly large and the main navigation buttons are not aligned with the search box and the account button juts out slightly to the left.

1Can't say I'm a fan of the navigation on the right but the intent behind these changes in addition to the others is excellent.
I hope the other regular members will join me in helping to add some fresh impetus to trading as a result.

Difficult to explain without a screenshot, I suppose, but the right nav box is placed at the bottom of the screen, and the width creates a scroll bar that is roughly 3x the width of a standard page.
Have you viewed the page with Firefox 3.6? I've used 2 different PCs and FF 3.6 and 3.5.8, both look this way.[ Oracle ] [ Level 30 ] [ Rank: 1 ]bids
