Some thoughts: Available monthly numbers are still lower than 1.8 million. This either means that Our available sales data is about 28% inaccurate (entirely possible) or retailers aren't selling every unit they get in (again, possible but unlikely). Also, while he said that Nintendo is producing 1.8 million per month, he doesn't explicitly state they're all being shipped out. It's still possible that they've kept back a few hundred thousand for a few months in order to put out a big holiday shipment. Also, they could be lowballing their shipments. Nintendo has a track record of lowering expectations when it comes to sales.
However, you're most likely correct and our December future is horribly out of whack.
