Many DS games (especially ones with feature-rich multiplayer) require every player to have a seperate game cartridge. Or, if there's only one among players, you're limited in what you can do (ie, for Mario Kart DS, the people without a cartridge can only race as Shy Guy and you only have access to 1/4th of the tracks).
