The NDF was a joke, hence the :p after it, and then the reasoned arguement that goes on to say that i agree with you to some extent and that i dont think you are a fanboy. I would have thought you would realised this, Im NOT calling you a fanboy.
(- On a side note why can no one on this site lighten up a little, as no one seems to get any attempt at a little joke on the rare occassions one is made.)
The impression that i got of you thinking im a fanboy to a small extent came from this "The only one asked to do this is only Nintendo, and it is only because people are always attacking Nintendo : - Wii H/W is selling well, but ... (insert your favorite but here). - Wii S/W is selling well, but ... (fill this up yourself). " That is a typical anti-Nintendo fanboy comment (as you rightly pointed out) and by suggesting that i would fill it in is giving the impression, to me at least, that you are likening me to a fanboy who would fill it in. I then simply pointed out the reasons why i wasnt a fanboy at all.
My issues with the numbers are not only with Wii play; i feel that a cheap add on to selling a controller does not count as a game as such, and i believe it skews figures that relate to fully priced games. (and yes MS or Sony would add them to their figures as they are ALL just as bad as each other for spinning the data) But how Nintendo's and MS's numbers dont add up in terms of the proclaimed hardware/ software ratios. Where MS claims a much higher ratio than the Wii so should be higher in overall sales, and at least not almost half. One or both companies are obviously spinning the figures as always. (I know the measure is the first 18months which contributes to part of the discrepancy)
I of course know there is no normal figure as everyone has a subjective opinion which is why i put it as 'normal' and didnt feel the need to explain myself any further as it was i thought obvious; especially as it was 2am. I was refering to normal as within a broad bound of expectability.
I don't think it is neccessarily 'wrong' or 'unfair' for Nintendo to include this in their number as it is clearly PR and it is to be expected that they would, but that more disclosure on the figures would help us as participants in a prediction market.
Your first post came across, to me from my subjective viewpoint at least, as very aggressive in its defense of Nintendo, whether that be for supporting them or just a general defense about getting your "apple to apple" comparison, which is why i made the joke about you being a fanboy.
In my view to get a truly "apple to apple" comparison Wii play should be discarded so that it is the full priced games that really matter that can be compared.
