@Rol83, The way I see it, Halo and Gears (and Mario) are first party game, so it shouldn't even enter the discussion.
FF, GTA III (Isn't SA also released on XBOX / X360 ?), MG, I don't think their exclusivity was money-induced (I could be wrong), but more because those developer don't see value in porting their game to other platform (last gen is not as port happy as this generation).
I think the price for third party exclusivity might get higher and higher. I believe it is better to focus on increasing first party capabilities (either through self development, or acquisition). It is a much more difficult way, but it is more profitable in the future (provided first party management is competent).
