RE: FPS MMO Huxley Finds Western Publisher
The reason why we should delist is because of the fact that it is coming to a free-to-play portal instead of being directly purchased by consumers - not because it is digital distribution only.
I believe that we should not delist future titles that follow the digital distribution only path. To delist such titles would be to show misunderstanding about the nature of the videogames industry. As more and more distribution becomes digital, we must continue to predict GLS for those titles that are only distributed digitally - even though we may never receive any hard sales data as hard sales data tends to come only from titles that are distributed through brick and mortar stores. We must continue to predict GLS for this title as there are still going to be global lifetime sales - just that they will be all digital in nature. Sales are still sales.
The only time we should delist titles because they are only going to be sold via digital distribution is when the predictions we are making are based around NPD data (that currently only covers brick and mortar stores) or if the title is only being released via a free-to-play portal/service (as in this case).
