@Heloise10, I don't think it has much to do (or anything to do) with the impact of the general economy because retail spending was up in May and the hardware and software sales are both still significantly up from last year for May.
I think what we are seeing is that people were expecting a jump in hardware sales due to GTA IV sales (seem as in April), where this did not come as many of the people currently purchasing GTA IV are those that already own a 360 or PS3. In addition, I think that we are seeing Microsoft failing being able to market the 360 to a larger consumer base than the "hardcore" gamer.
