If the sales number points out a valid under/over priced stock, who cares if someone makes money on it? They found the info and people can trade on it if they want.
Personally, I stay away from to-be-released stocks usually because fanboys over-hype them...hence why many stocks are overpriced. Not many sane players will short Halo 3 or GTA4 because new players will buy it and it just wastes your DKP to bother.
You can't fault players simply because they don't view the game the same way as you do.
One possible way to increase the focus on unreleased games would be to implement a price adjust based on first month sales. Take a multiple based on historical results (for instance, if most RPGs have 10% of their total sales in the first month, make the stock price "first month sales * 10") and adjust the stock. That way players would focus more on new releases because there will be a faster gain on their position. It would also create added attention to those stocks right after the first month as players predict how it will do after that month (better or worse than the average multiple).
