I've never advocated using VGcharts numbers as an exact "if it's off by 1000 units, let's short!" source.
But consider a game like GTA4. Vgcharts will have numbers out for it weeks before NPD (nearly a month most likely). If the numbers come in at a much lower/higher number than expected, should players not consider that? If it turns out to be wildly wrong, it'll correct again. In a similar vein, should we not look at vgcharts for games like Transformers (DS)? Where else will be ever get sales numbers for it? If we condemn posting of vgcharts numbers, you're going to have a very inactive and empty site.
I do agree that something has to be done with old stocks, whether it's complete delisting of just removing them from the main console pages. However, I don't see why VGcharts needs to be vilified on here...if we only rely on very reliable sources, this site will be dead for most of the month.
