What's up with all these sell orders at 0.01 DKP? By setting your order to sell at 0.01 DKP, you're predicting total sofware sales in August to be $100,000. Last month it was $419,200,000... Unless you have inside information that the gaming industry crashed at the beginning of last month, I'd say you're going to lose a lot of money. Am I missing something? Is this a glitch?
Yes, I understand that and I know we can't see how exactly NPD calculates but I'm wondering how Brian/Jesse calculated that we were expecting a figure ~12.8% higher. If they used figures from our predictions on the July Software Futures then we could also use them to help predict the August Software Totals. I'm ust wondering how to get that figure or did they do it on heinsight based on the NPD figure?
@jameseyryan, no the Total Software Sales number is the number NPD reports as the total software sales for the month. This is one of the figures they report to the media along with console units and Top 10 software. It includes all games, including catalog. I don't know if it includes PC games actually.
"Overall, July software sales came in below the market's expectations at $419.2 million. The simExchange had expected sales about 12.8% higher, between $459 - $487 million."
For those of us who like to do this more through numbers than gut I am wondering could the calculation of the figures be clarified. i.e. what figures are used and how are they used. For eg, Is it based on (sales of game 1 * price) + (sales of game 2 * price)...etc until the 10th game in NPD's top 10? Or is there some other formula involved?
I edited one of my articles with that
thing, and it didn't do anything. I'll try again next time I submit an article.
Can we use other text formats like italics, bold or underlined?
Also, do you guys copy and paste links in comments into the address bar? I have firefox and linkification which turns normal text that "looks" like a link into actual clickable links. How do you Internet Explorer users deal with links? Does IE have its own linkification thing?
I've actually been paying a bit of attention to this.
Essentially all the disagreement is over Immersion paying MS a portion of royalties and settlement costs they received for licensing their technology to other companies, which was part of their settlement.
It doesn't mean Sony's rumble is going away again, its just MS asserting the rights of their contract with Immersion to receive a portion of those royalties Sony will be paying them to license the tech.

Sorry, that should be "you're predicting total software sales in August to be less than $100,000".
