I have a question to KoC : Why was the transaction for PS3 April Rolled back ? Is accidental / wrong purchase a strong justification for rolling back transaction ? Will I be able to ask my transaction to be rolled back in the future IF I made a mistake ?
I want to make sure that this is a standard operating procedure (standard rules), not something that is an exception.
@apujanata, Let's just say that was me. I accidently submitted my purchase order with the decimal in the wrong place without knowing it because of my wireless keyboard was having connection issues - stupid computer hardware. My losses were huge when I was able to get rid of my stock.
Bad post :) First its a GTA Month, isn't? And second: The Price after the IPO 1 is set by the orders in IPO 1. So next time, keep silence, wait for IPO 2 and immediately after, and make a freaky fortune :) It would have been nice, you know :)
Best Buy has recently discontinued the 80 GB model of the PS3. Best Buy will now only carry the 40GB model, which does not support PS2 play back.
This message was sent out via the Best Buy in store news link for employees only, that is why I dont have a news story to go with it. I am sure Kotaku or some other news source will pick it up from someone who has access to screens of it.
Thanks for the up bids. I dont believe anything I said deserved downbidding either. But, that is the down side of the bidding system.
I agree with you though, with the economy the way it is, the PS3 may not be the first choice for people getting returns. But that is exactly why I said in my first comment that my store doesnt exactly reflect the whole country, but in my store more and more PS3s are going out the door. I noticed a little bit of increase right after the pre CES announcement from Warner Brothers.
I also agree that people getting their return will be spread over months. But that wasnt my point. That was just part of why I think PS3 will sell well in Feb. The PS3 momentum seems to be gaining speed with price drops, Blu Ray winning, and with the hot launch year the PS3 is expecting this year.
@justcrim, I agree with you that Blu-Ray and the lower priced configuration may help the sales (the lower pricepoint will probably help more than the Blu-Ray).
I didn't mean that people will spread out their spending of any returned money - I meant that all people do not get their taxes done in February (some people wait until the last possible second sometimes). Couple this with the economy not having the greatest time and the fact that not everyone is going to buy electronics with any return money, and you end up with the tax returns having a very small or unnoticeable affect on console hardware sales - specially when focusing on just one console.
Off-topic: Someone keeps downbidding your comments, so I have been up-bidding them back to the normal 1 starting bid because while I do not find them upbid-able, I do not think they deserved to be downbidded as they raise a valid argument.
I didnt say that the system would be higher because of taxes. I said it is a mix of tax returns and Blu Ray currently winning the format war. Mix that with the 40GB version at the lower price, and you have people with extra cash seeing the PS3 becoming more and more attractive.
And yes, you implied most people will not be expecting a return. And yes, you implied that there are not a significant number of teens with jobs that will be filing returns. When in fact there are.
As for your claim I didnt address the issue of people spreading out their tax return is because that claim is completely bogus. Most middle class people plan on their tax return, and usually know what they plan on investing it in before they even get it. And everyone who receives their tax returns in Feb. will most likely go out the next week end and splurge on electronics they didnt get at Christmas, or couldnt justify until now.
