As was recently posted, Nintendo published their list of million sellers on the Wii. This is still not on it, I think it's pretty safe to say this is overvalued.
Battle Revolution is a game for Pokémon fanatics alone. No one else has reason to play it, and it makes no effort whatsoever to be accessible to a non-Pokéddicted audience. It consists of nothing but the battling component of the Game Boy and DS RPGs; in fact, the only way to fully make use of its features is to connect a copy of Diamond or Pearl via wireless and copy the monsters you've been training up for the past few hundred hours onto your Wii. The DS connectivity feature is seamless and efficient, but adds an extra $170 to the price of admission -- not to mention the time investment it requires.
i think this game still needs correcting even after yesterdays drop. 1.4M is unlikely given 300,000 in japan. Somewhere around 1M seems a lot more likely.
Taking the VGChartz figures for Wii in japan has 2.84M sold with 300k for this game. Thats about a 10.5% attachment rate. Now taking the total of American and Other Wii's sold we get 3.46M + 2.31M = 5.77M. Even taking an attachment rate of 12% thats 692,400 sales meaning this totals 1M approx Worldwide
Well, this game is about to come out in America...hopefully people will realize how over-priced it is once some numbers come out for there...
It's now selling less than 2000 units per week in Japan and looks like it'll end up just under 300,000. So right now the stock price is saying that 1.7 million copies will be sold elsewhere (or 85%).
Japanese sales of the 4 previous Pokemon console games (sold worldwide so Stadium 3 doesn't count) accounted for 23%, 45%, 28% and 31% of sales. So taking that average (32%) and taking Japanese sales would predict a lifetime of about 900k. This is the worst selling Pokemon console battling game ever for Japan and should be closer to 1 million (previous lowest selling game was XD which sold 350,000 in Japan and 1.14 million overall).
