@feelmyring, I would like to know the same thing because according to NPD numbers, HL2: The Orange Box only sold 238,400 copies in its release month and then went onto November to be not ranked (therefore meaning it had to sell less than 376,843 copies that Assassin's Creed at number 10 sold). Even if it sold 1 copy less than the the last ranked game in November, the game would only be at 615,242 copies for Xbox 360 - much less than Just_Ben's 1.5 million number.
If you take a look at recent multi-platform games such as Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, and even from a few months ago, Madden NFL 08, the PS3 version of each game has sold less than half of the amount that 360 version sold. Also, if you look at the case of Call of Duty 4, the 360 version sold more than 3 times the amount of the PS3 version and that was without the PS3 version having techinical issues as in the case of HL2: The Orange Box. If the 360 version of HL2: The Orange Box sold 238,400 copies, then I would expect no more than half of that amount to be sold on the PS3 (119,200). I also believe that being released only 14 days from Christmas day makes this title less likely to have a boost from holiday shopping and if it follows the pattern of Call of Duty 4 (which did have the holiday boost more so), the sales of this title could be an even lesser percentage of its 360 counterpart.
A couple of things that I believe will put somewhat of a damper on the sales of this game:
1. The frame rate issues (those that are likely to purchase the game will know about this and rather pick it up on either the 360 or PC)
2. Would have had better sales if it would have been released by Black Friday or at least by the end of November
There is one thing that this game has going for it: it is "one of the better games" for the PS3 this year (like ItachiItachi stated), even if it does have some issues and is cross-platform.
@Just_Ben, I think it has a chance, The ps3 is in need of good games more than the 360, If the frame rate issue got fixed its one of the better games for it this year.(I also doubt most people know about it). Call of Duty 4 sold almost a half million for the ps3. I won't be suprised if it does sell under 100k though.
If it flops on 360, why should it do good on the PS3? I say it will do around 1/3 of what the 360 version has done, so 8 DKP. Na slash 2 just to be generous. 10 DKP.
Near Christmas release date don't help. You need to be before Black Friday. Thats where the wish lists are made.
WoW! why the big drop? This is being released in the brink of december? The xbox 360 version sold 24Dkp in october. So shouldnt this be around the same as it so close to christmas? It has two weeks so all it needs to do is average 6dkp.Im guessing 15dkp.

I get your comparison now. Just got confused with all the names and numbers being thrown around. Thanks for the clarification.
