I am really hoping to finally see some of the great pc games catch on with the home consoles. Anyone think this could convert to the console market or do you think this will once again be pc dominated in terms of sales.
If i can recall, counter-strike for the xbox completely flopped but of course the pc title sold millions.
You can handle status 200 quite easily. With me it was most the time just one char that is just not accepted. If you have it, just do the first sentence. After submitting go to the edit article page and add sentence by sentence and submit between them. You find out easily that way what char is causing it. Most likely it was a '
two-part interview with Team Fortress 2 developers Robin Walker and Charlie Brown, talking about the pathways from the modding community to working at Valve, the long development of TF2 and the changes it went through, Valve’s thoughts on parallel mod Fortress Forever, and how the art design plays such a major role in how we play the game.
I found this to be a very interesting interview in particular how some of the decisions they discuss actually do make for better gameplay. In particular my favourite out of context quote would be with regards gameplay complexity.
"we don’t think we’ve sacrificed any of the depths or complexity that we wanted, but at the same time players can sit down in front of it and have fun without really understanding half of what’s going on".
A game with depth that is simple to play. Now that is novel.
It looks like a riot. As a 360 owner, this is the FPS I'm getting this season. And since I've always been a console gamer, all the other O:Box content will be new to me as well. It's a steal at that price. I can't wait.
Maybe because it's a FPS coming in the wake of Halo 3? The core content of this package (HL2) has been available for years and can be found quite cheap. While this contains a lot more content, I wonder if it will appeal to the 360 crowd which already has quite a few multiplayer FPS options (GRAW, Halo, Gears, Rainbow Six, etc). It's a PC franchise that's stepping into crowded territory (with awful boxart).
On a personal note, Team Fortress was one of the first (and most fun) FPS mods I've ever played...I waited years for TF2 to come out. I just have doubts that it will find a large audience on the 360.
I have to agree this is a beautifully polished game. The game still plays like the original TFC which was a blast in its day and should be received well by the console fraternity as it is a very easy game to get into and have fun.
236 million played online minutes on its first day means that at least via Steam the sales of the Orange box are very healthy indeed (puts it into context CS gets 6 billion a month so a little way to go).
This game will review well, as I suspect Ep2 will be longer and also as well polished and the addition of TF2 (which is now officially awesome) and portal you have to wonder how this game could fail.
I've played Team Fortress 2 maybe 3 or 4 hours now, and it's one of the best games I've ever played. I can easily say it has more polish than any other multilayer game I've ever played including WoW, and, I'm just playing the BETA!
If it's as good on the 360, the reviews will show and this is way undervalued.
The PC Version of the Orange box is now available for pre order via Valves Steam, an online distribution system.
Uniquely if you pre order the game via Steam you will get the opportunity to participate in the Team Fortress 2 beta programe which starts this coming Monday 17th of Sept.
Another unique feature will be that of the gift. If you currently own part of the Orange box you can give it away as a gift.
The beta programe and the unique gift feature may sway away some of those who could not decide whether to own on the 360/PS3 or on PC. It certainly has made my mind up, see you on the Beta on Monday.
I would agree but in this case we are brining new products which are new to the PC and Console markets. I suspect TF2 alone will become a big reason to buy this package.
I personally already own HL2 but do not have EP1 and 2. Do I buy on the 360 or the Xbox. I will probably buy on the Xbox and through Steam I should be able to micro purchase the TF2 element.
The point I am making is this is not your normal late port.
@decidence, why not? Late PC ports to console never do all that well. A recent example on the simexchange, look at F.E.A.R. That was a hit on the PC, but releasing it way later onto Xbox 360 and PS3 resulted in pitiful sales. Most people who have wanted to play these games have had a chance on the PC. Now if they were releasing Half-Life 3 at the same time on PC and Xbox 360, I'd agree with you.
