What is going on with this game ? From 2007 Preview, then delayed to Feb 2008, then E3 2008, then TGS 2008, the news is almost always delay and more delay.
It is even baffling that remedy entertainment's last game release is in 2003, Max Payne 2. That is 5 years ago. What is going on with this company so that it need to take 5 years to develop a game ?
I am seriously asking these questions, since I didn't play Max Payne 1 & 2, and also not familiar with Remedy Entertainment.
I haven't seen amazing numbers coming from most RPGs with the exception of Mass Effect which had a ton of hype. I am skeptical it will move 3 million units though I would say it has a shot at doing 1 million, it will depend on how it looks when we get more details.
Neither I nor anybody else really knows much about this game, but I'm optimistic from what I've seen. If there is a multiplayer component (anyone know?) I think it could easily reach the 3 million mark if it lives up to expectations. It's not like there is a huge amount of hype (yet) so as to disappoint people.
Playability alone warrants a certain jump in price. Thirty is a bit much perhaps, but certainly not illogical. A game like this with nothing but screenshots and some small videos is helped immensely by palpable, physical happennings. That is, you know it isn't vaporware, i.e. project Hammer, if the developers tell you it will be playable in two weeks.
Now, the next big jump will come when we see what it's evolved into at E3 and depends largely on the specifics of that play experience.
I feel good about this in general, and I think it should be a strong buy, or at least as strong as an unreleased, rumor mill game can be. Can't wait till we get some real solid info.
This game has the potential to become Microsoft's next big franchise. Everything about this game looks incredible. I might end up buying a 360 just so I can try this game out.
This is absolutely a bargain price. It's hard to know when the title will come out exactly, but major Xbox 360 exclusives have a history of selling a solid 400-500k within the first month in the US alone, and I can't imagine this being any exception.
I think 1-1.5 million is a very realistic target for this and fully expect the price to reflect that in time. Get in while there is much money to be made.
