@kspraydad, I think the general rule for game sales is the first 2 months account for 60% of the game's lifetime sales. Most stocks on the simExchange won't be priced that way because the stocks are global sales, while the futures are US sales. However, Madden games do not sell outside of the US (give that US is the only country playing football).
@Making_Waves, the reason for the sell off would be the fact that first week sales were quite week week according to VGChartz. The August future is now forecating 150k. I'd say the stock should be about 3x the price of the August future.
While I have not analyzed the numbers or have a fancy linechart, I'd say YES.
Madden is not just a game but a full time hobby for many, and most purchase the game in the first few weeks of release. After that sales taper off rapidly after the Christmas (and football season), to almost non-existant within a few short months.
Now, I'm not convinced Madden on the Wii will sell those kinds of numbers to begin with, but the ratio is probably somewhere around what is being projected.
Still trying to wrap my head around this new system but are SE players now projecting that this game will sell 450,000 copies in 2 weeks (Aug 14 release date) while projecting the LIFETIME sales at 1,200,000?
Anyone here that analyzed/analyzes Madden games in the past? Do they normally sell more than 33% of their lifetime sales in just the first 2 weeks?
