Strange how when we learned it was moving from the 23rd to the 30th we dropped from $19 to $12 but now that we are back to the 23rd we have only gone up to $13 on this Future.
Should be some room for upwards momentum in this price.
If I recall correctly, Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked (the forth in the series) deviated from the rest of the series by focusing on shooting rather than platforming, which explains its low sales. Also, games released towards the start of a generation tend to sell more than games released towards the end of a generation, presumably due to increased competition and the increases in innovation possible at the start of a new generation.
I agree that this game won't sell as much as R&C 3, but I feel comparisons to R&C: Deadlocked are unfair.
Am I missing something on the lifetime sales prediction for this game (currently at 1.25 million)?
VGchartz has the numbers for this series steadily declining on the PS2 (from 2.93 million for #1 down to 2.17 million for #3) and that system had a massive install base. In fact, the 4th game isn't even showing up on VGchartz at all (less than 1 million shipped?)
With the smaller PS3 install base and the declining sales for this series, shouldn't this number be a bit lower? In fact, if the last entry in the series couldn't break 1 million on the PS2, how the heck will this one?
@Alpha, I was pointing out that it is now only 4 days (I think its 5 actually, I forgot 31 days in Oct not 30)instead of 12 days. I think that is reasonsable to emphasize as Kspraydad had implied. And your comment is correct to, but it sounds like you're trying to say the amount of days isn't significant. I'm not trying to be rude, I don't know what else to type.
@Joe80, the fact that it's only 4 days isn't as significant as the game is a PS3 title. When was the last time we saw a PS3 title sell over 200k copies in one month (other than Madden)?
My comment was based on we were already projecting 200k when it was going to be out for 2 weeks (Oct 23 to Nov 7)...now it will only be one week thus I'm thinking an adjustment is warranted. I've gone from long to short based on current price.
Picked up my demo today, it's gonna be the greatest R&C to come out. I have high hopes for this. The PSN demo being delayed until the 11th is probably to tweak it a bit, there was some slight lag when it gets really busy. I agree that it probably won't move 200k in a week but stranger things have happened and a lot of people are probably looking forward to a game that lasts more than five hours and/or hasn't been panned by reviewers.
