Namco Bandai makes big push for arcade to home fighter.
Who says fighting games are dead? Tekken 6 became the latest home console release to prove that the genre still has some major backing, as Namco Bandai announced today that the game has shipped 2.5 million worldwide. This is presumably a first shipment, as the game hit retail this week. The apparent success of Tekken 6 isn't unprecedented. Before it, Capcom's Street Fighter IV and Namco Bandai's own Soul Calibur IV managed to ship two million soon after their releases. Early, extremely unofficial, sales figures indicate first day domestic sales of around 100,000 units for Japan. As with Soul Calibur and SFIV, it's likely that the bulk of Tekken 6's sales will be accounted for overseas.

i hope this is an indication of the selling capability of tekken 6. INVEST!! i guarentee if you buy now, value will increase !! Has been researched thoroughly!
There is a significant upward price pressure in this stock in the last few weeks.
I am pretty sure that the cause of this is VGC's #, which is 1.71 Million, as of now.
VGC # are significantly wrong, on the America and EMEA part (the Japan is correct)
For America, VGC's # vs NPD's #, after converting NPD's # into America, by dividing with 0.87, is: Tekken 6 launch is Oct 27, which means that Week 1 = Oct 2009 NPD Week 2 - Week 5 = Nov 2009 NPD Week 6 - Week 10 = Dec 2009 NPD Oct 09 : NPD is 120,977, VGC is 138,728 (15% higher) Nov 09 : NPD is 88,009, VGC is 147,644 (68% higher) Dec 09 : NPD is 120,870, VGC is 160,487 (33% higher)
First 10 weeks : NPD is 329,856, VGC is 446,859 (35% higher)
Therefore, VGC's America LTD, which is 700K, should be 518K
For EMEA, Tekken 6 PS3 are only Silver award by Jan 2010, which means that it should be around 120K - 150K, currently. UK is 25% - 30% of EMEA, which means that Tekken 6 PS3 EMEA is between 400K - 600K, max.
Total of Tekken 6 should be : 172K Japan + 518K America + 600 K EMEA = 1.3 Million. This 1.3 Million figure is max figure.
If any one of you have different opinion / analysis, please feel free to discuss this.
Note : NPD # for Tekken 6 is based on leak, since Tekken 6 NEVER enter NPD Top 10 in 2009. If you are dilligent, you should be able to find the leak yourself.

I agree with you Gaara42 this game can sell very well, but only if the PS3 can increase it's install base. I've suggested that this IPO be set lower than the historical averages due to the current weak performance of the PS3.
You only have to look to Virtua Fighter 5 for a good example of another PS3 sequel selling far less than it's predecessor. VF4 shipped 1.7 million copies worldwide according to vgchartz.com, but look what has happened to VF5. That one is struggling to sell just 400,000 units. I believe even 750,000 units for Tekken 6 is not a sure thing. It all depends on the future performance of the PS3.

There's no problem there. Namco announced more than 3 million shipped a while ago.
Seems VGC might be more informed than you.
