Nintendo published a exclusive FPS game from another developer on the NGC, Geist by n-Space. Recent Nintendo published original western games do not seem to be great sales successes. Maybe someone has reliable sales figures to disprove that?
I guess it will be part of the bet who is the publisher. Nintendo is one of the possible publishers on my list to. Nintendo wants core games (hell they even wanted a GTA) on the Wii. It will be a major difference if Nintendo/EA/Ubisoft/Activision publishes it, or they get a publisher from the 3rd "line". At least in sales it will be a big difference.
But I really don't think Nintendo is out of the Picture here. This game closes the whole the Wii has in its current lineup (A well done, fast, "good" graphic driven FPS) and Nintendo knows it. Nintendo tried hard to fill let fill that gap by third party. But if they don't want to, I think Nintendo can live with second party.
To be honest, if it is half as good as promised I want it, and I want it now!
@apujanata, Why would there be uproar in the gaming forums if Nintendo is the publisher?
I also agree that the FPS genre on Wii has great potential. Metroid Prime 3 and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 along with RE4 for Wii showed that the FPS genre can be done very well on Wii as well as showing that there is still ways the controls can be improved.
@lstormy10, Imagine : What will happen IF Nintendo is the publisher ? I'm sure there will be uproar in the gaming forums. (No, I don't have any insider knowledge about Nintendo and High Voltage, so this is not a leak, just pure speculation).
I wish that this game will have good multiplayer. i didn't play Goldeneye (didn't have N64), so if Conduit's multiplayer can be almost as good as Goldeneye, I will buy it.
I see lots of potential in Wii FPS, ever since I played RE4 for Wii, which is much better than RE4 GC (wii-mote is a significant improvement over analog stick for FPS/FPA).
@apujanata, There is no danger in this title getting a publisher (for reasons I previously stated).
In fact, the development is moving along quite well and will show at E3. IGN posted the first gameplay video earlier this week - making it a much more different beast than Sadness. I suspect from what I know and have seen in the media that if development is far enough along (which it is far enough to have a good looking gameplay video already), then we will hear an announcement at E3 about the publisher that was chosen by High Voltage.
I personally guarantee that this title will have a publisher (and most likely it will be announced... soon).
Well we are betting on GLS and part of the bet could be if there will be a good or bad publisher with all the consequences. Of course this things is more risky before we know the publisher.
On the other hand: SE is here to predict sales, no matter what. Off course there are hard prediction (with many unknowns) and more easy predictions (Well of course Madden will sell, it sells year after year after year. So there is not a 100% margin possible, everybody knows it. If you are good you may are able to get 20% on madden).
@Just_Ben, I agree with you and lstormy10, that this game has almost zero possibility of not getting publisher, and not getting released. In fact, I believe that this game will be release BEFORE Sadness. I still don't know what to do about Sadness stock. In one hand, shorting them means going against Zukaus, and it is suicide going against him. On the other hand, that game still didn't get publisher, which means its current GLS is probably too high.
Just_Ben, remember that our style is different. You like living dangerously (future), while I prefer safe bet. Even if this stock get listed, I "probably" (not sure yet) not going to invest significantly in this stock BEFORE this game get a formal publisher. The reason is simple : If this stock get rolled back, all profit (and loss) that we enjoyed from this stock will go "poof", which mean that if I had made 1 Million profit on this stock, I will that "1 Million Profit" disappear, and my networth will go down (I assumed I will get profit when I invest in a stock).
@apujanata, You could think so, the fact that there is no publisher yet (so he is unkown) is something that adds more fun to the mix here. No I still want this thing listed, A.S.A.P.
@apujanata, I wouldn't worry about High Voltage getting a publisher for the game. They have already made it publicly known that they have a large number (10 at last known point) of options for publishers already on the table. They are taking their time in looking at the different options to ensure that they pick the best partner. In addition, they have also publicly stated that they do not want a publisher just yet even if they had settled their decision on one of their options because they do not want a publisher coming in and "monkeying" (quote of High Voltage) things up. One last tidbit I would like to add is that they have reported that they have enough funding already to completely finish development on the game without the help of a publisher.
I see absolutely no risk in listing this title for trading sooner rather than later.

You are talking about a game from the GameCube? From 2005? Kind of a bad example, isn't it?
