According to VGCharts, this is the second highest selling game this week, selling 108,551. The game was only avaliable for four (or three?) days of this week, as it was released 10 May.
The week ending 13 May is part of the "May" NPD period, so we won't expecting "official" sales figures for another month.
I'm not very familiar with this series, so I don't know how well it will do in the long run, but first week sales point to this stock being undervalued.
That chart adds together sales for maltiplatform games (including PC versions), which means the number one game, Spider-Man 3, is actually five (PS2, 360, PS3, Wii, DS) different games. This also means that "COMMAND & CONQUER 3: TIBERIUM WARS" on that chart includes PC sales. As the 360 version of this game was not on sale last week, the PC version only was 20th last week. As no actual sales figures are listed, it is very hard to infer at what position the 360 version would be if maltiplatform game sales were split.
The most surprising thing is that the 360 version was released on 11 May in UK. This means the 360 version was only avaliable for TWO days and still managed to reach 2nd place.
It will be interesting to see how this game turns out. I am hoping EA comes up with a way to make RTS fun on a console. They used to say FPS wouldn't work on console until Halo. BFMEII was a step up from previous attempts, but it was basically on par with the original Warcraft. The problem is that people have tried to simply port a PC RTS game to console, which just doesn't work. You have to figure out a new way to make the experience possible.
Xbox 360 RTS games aren't cool =( hopefully will only sell 20 copies to those hard core fan boys but da men play Supreme Commander Rock On Chris Taylor
