The announcement that UT3 coming out on the XBox360 may have an interesting twist: could players play online across the different consoles (or PC) together?
Since the new Windows Vista is going to launch a service called Games on Windows Vista Live (similar to XBox Live), will cross-compatible online multiplayer be the norm, starting with UT3?
Hmm I don't think the name change is a great idea. I think for many franchises, people tire after a bunch of numbers (the classic feeling that a sequel will not be as good). I know after hearing Tomb Raider 3 or 4 or whatever the series sounded trite.
Using the year thing sounds like the update you have to get, which has been incredibly successful with Madden and other sports games.
If they are really trying to tie "Unreal Tournament III" with "Unreal Engine 3," I really don't think they are going to get any kind of synergy.
