The Mole gives up the goods on Sony and Microsoft hardware plans this fall: price drops on both systems, with the 160GB PS3 model replacing the 80GB model before the PS3 Slim is released. Expect the Elite to replace the Pro models on the 360 side after Microsoft adjusts prices as well. New bundles are coming as well.
@welshbloke, Right now I don't see the opening of the Xbox either, I'm not sure what the details are and what MS may or may not have to open up to their partners to get their services on Live. Pachter might believe this will lead to more and more opening, where eventually the Xbox line will become more like a computer or family room internet all around device, but maybe he's being too optimistic.
@OuterHaven, I agree with everything you said. It's too bad they didn't show anything from it. I guess if it's not shown, or at least not playable, or it doesn't relate to actual games (Facebook, Last.fm, etc) then it's not paid much attention to. Which is justified but you'd think the media would give more weight to the significance of announcements, not just the games they get to play.
Yes that was big news but we actually know very little other than it is a 70s espionage game. I am not sure it was under reported though, rather very little to report.
DID everyone forget ROckstars AGENT exclusive to PS3? Made by the same guys who made GTA Sam Houser and company. Man if MS had made this announcement this would have been the announcement of the show even without and trailer or images. Cuz MS knows how to hype and media plays to its tune.
I agree the Dashboard features have been largely ignored and were the biggest announcement. I slightly disagree as I do not see the opening of the Xbox rather the tight integration of web apps as the big step change.
@TheSmilkman, At first I was upset until I read the article and learned the specifics and what this will actually lead to, and now I realize this should be awesome and help id get back to AAA form. Excited!
@afsplat, I thought the same thing Pachter did about the significance of what MS is doing with the dashboard & the services coming. Totally under-recognized, was wondering why the media didn't talk about it more.
I agree with Doug Creutz, who said "The Project Natal demo from Microsoft got most of the ink, but I really thought Sony's demo was superior from a gaming perspective."
Sony's motion controller just looked much more precise, accurate, and fitting to playing games. I think holding nothing actually hampers control. Looks nice, but controls worse.
