Shares in US specialist retailer GameStop have fallen by almost 15 per cent following its revelation earlier this week of poor Holiday sales.
The company reported revenues down by 8.6 per cent for the nine-week period ending January 2 at USD 2.86 billion, significantly lower than most analysts had predicted.
The company also slashed its Q4 forecast to an estimate of a 8.5-9.5 per cent decline, compared to previous guidance of a 4-7 per cent decline.
Pachter says. "You just get way too much content. The installed base has a lot of music, and they don't really need a lot more. It's sort of like buying more books when you have a stack of books left to read. You just don't."
Enterbrain reports that the PS3 has crossed the four million mark in Japan, selling over one million consoles in nine months for a total of 4,020,563. Though this milestone is impressive, expect the next million to go by much more rapidly, thanks to the price drop, the PS3 Slim, and, most importantly, Final Fantasy XIII.
I know that the only reason that games that don't hit the top 10 pay out at the level of #10 is because we don't have a better option, but it certainly makes the prices of futures less accurately track the market's perception of that game's performance.
Not fair to cash these out at their real values because we were all under the assumption they would cash out at the 10th best value and traded based on that.
