Is this snippet of news really worthy of an article? I mean its a minor detail of the game that is relatively insignificant in itself, i really dont feel the need to know this information, and this comes from an avid MGS fan.
If there is an additional special release with new content, akin to Substance or Subsistence, will it be included with MGS 4 sales? Anyone remember for sure? If not I'll email KuC.
The limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 Playstation 3 hardware, which just got a confirmation for a US launch, will not be seen in the UK. Konami has announced that Play.com website will not be taking any pre-orders to sell the Gunmetal Grey PS3 bundle, disappointing UK gamers. The website has removed the Snake-based bundle.
I normally shy away from review scores but the internet is reporting that MGS4 got a 10/10 in the UK edition of Official Playstation Magazine.
Whilst I'll take an official magazine's score with a grain of salt it would at least indicate to me that the reviews will be solid, if not better.
The web version of Mainichi Shimbun newspaper reports today that Sony plans on shipping between 80,000 and 100,000 units of the recently announced MGS4 PS3 bundle. Sony refers to this as a limited edition bundle, so we presume they intend to sell out of it quickly.
The Metal Gear Online beta test is now live and ready to play in North America, Europe, and Japan. We've gotten reports from various Kotakuites that they are already connected and playing the long-awaited and slightly delayed game.
We would like to thank all players for their keen interest in taking part in the beta test. However, we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected. As a temporary measure, we will be deferring the start of the US public beta test until we are able to stabilize our server.
For me, this cements the fact that MGS4 is going to be insanely good!
Kojima is know to be notoriously picky and a perfectionist. In addition, this is the last game in the series, which leads me to believe that his expectations and vision were far beyond anything that may be achievable on a system that the development understanding and tools for has not been fully realized/maximized.
Also, it will not hurt his rep as a legendary game designer to make comments to this effect, knowing that when people are blown away by the product that they will be left wondering of the extra stuff that Kojima had to leave out, and how far advanced his thinking is.
