It's about managing a battle rather than watching it. Need more troops? You have to keep yourself in the game long enough for the supply run to arrive, rather than watching as new Warthogs pop out of your base. You have to actively manage the combat, rather than just pointing troops in the right direction and hoping the numbers game will turn in your favour. It's the same principle that Halo employs. Instead of stashing health packs, you have to decide when to fire and when to hide under cover.
@ItachiItachi, Even this rumour might already affect potential sales for those gamers who have both PC and X360. I believe they would just wait for the PC version, especially IF the PC game is only $50 (lower priced than X360 ones). RTS is more suited to mouse and keyboard play, as opposed to analog and digital.
@sagexsdx,Well Halo originaly was made with console controls in mind and it still came to pc. If there is one type of game where the controls suffer more on a console than a FPS its a RTS. MS just came out and said the rumors arn't true http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=181087 (after previously saying they had no commet). I don't doubt they will and probably alredy are making the PC version. But it will probably come out like a year later so it dosn't kill the console sales of the gmae.
The game has been overpriced for a long time, so it could be people seeing an opportunity to correct the price (in their view). Reasons here and here. Also look over the past couple pages for more reasons why this should be sub 140DKP.
I'm inclined to agree. It was kind of implicit from the start, just like it's obvious there will be a Halo 3 PC at some point.
Hopefully if the cross-platform thing is true they'll do a better job of balancing the controls. The answer in shadowrun was basically to gimp them as much as possible so kb/m was no better than the gamepad.
I guess it didn't help that Shadowrun was sent to die either mind.
is the reason for the 7% sell off today because of the rumors of a pc version? i dont think sales would be lost on a pc version much. when shadowrun came out for both PC and 360, the pc version sold relatively MUCH lower. there were people constantly looking for PC players to help them get the cross platform associated achievements.
@sagexsdx, a PC version of an RTS is a natural fit, but I agree with your comments that the point of the game was supposed to be a "made for console" perspective.
hrm i hope not. unless they have two separate teams, i thought this game was developed with console controls in mind. i would hate for pc rts controls to affect how the 360 ones come into play... unless they decide that their input method is so good they decide to redefine the PC rts by making it controlled like the 360 one...
Halo Wars is rumoured to be Microsoft's next full-bloodied first-party game to support cross-platform play between PC and Xbox 360.
According to rumour circulating, a PC version of the RTS is going to be announced at next month's GDC in San Francisco.
To be honest, we wouldn't be at all surprised if Halo Wars was confirmed for PC at some point.
