To prepare everyone for the upcoming DLC of GTA IV for our XBOX 360 owners and the trophies that are going live this Monday for Playstation 3 owners, the price of Grand Theft Auto IV has officially dropped to $49.99, making it very affordable for everyone who still hasn’t had a chance to explore Liberty City.
The $49.99 price point can be found at your local Gamestop retailers and it will be followed shortly by other retailers such as Best Buy and Circuit City.
At last, confirmation that doesn't come from a nebulous internet entity or a gravelly voiced figure in a trench coat. Not that we have anything against those two fine and often charismatic sources of information, but we're just a teensy bit more confident in Microsoft's confirmation (and corroboration) to us that "exclusive episodes for 'Grand Theft Auto IV' will be available on Xbox 360 starting fall 2008." That's quite a bit better than the rumored January, we think.
"Take-Two Interactive announced alongside its quarterly results that Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV has sold over 10 million units [worldwide and across both platforms] as of August 16. The release noted that the publisher's fiscal third quarter was "led by the blockbuster" and continues to exceed the company's expectations."
Wow, it seems like years since the first rumors of the Xbox getting exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV DLC and months since the game actually appeared (ok, it has been months... but I mean more months)
Finally, Microsoft has announced that the first dollop of episodic GTA action will appear on Xbox Live in the fall.
Today's parents have plenty to worry about in fact, though a recent survey performed at the family-focused consumer game site What They Play seems to indicate their priorities are a bit out of whack. They asked a series of asked over 1,600 respondents what they’d fear the most if their 17-year-old were to participate in a sleepover. The answer may surprise you.
Rockstar has now officially confirmed that GTA IV will be hitting the PC on November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe. It appears that the PC version will be ported by Rockstar North, but this and any further details have yet to be confirmed.
According to VGChartz, the Xbox 360 version is selling about 36% better than the PS3 version. We are forecasting a 77% outperformance by the Xbox 360 version, which is probably too high. Sales of the games are consolidating as well, so I would venture to say the Xbox 360 stock is overvalued more than the PS3 version is undervalued.
In June 2008, Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360) sold 238,000 units including special editions according to NPD. The June future has been cashed out at 23.8 DKP.
Microsoft corporate VP Shane Kim today reconfirmed that the first bit of Xbox 360-exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content will debut on Xbox Live this fall.
The episode will mark the first of two promised game-expanding, Xbox 360-exclusive pieces of downloadable content for the title. No additional details were revealed.
Just FYI, VGC is estimating 5.47 million units globally for GTAIV (Xbox 360). This title has long tail sales that will probably pull the 360 version to 9 million units, if not 10.
