"Killzone fans, action, and shooter fans of any stripe will instantly tag this sequel as a powerful contender for the best game of 2009."Killzone 2's refusal to adopt "forced futuristic paradigms" and the scenery as "incredibly well detailed." Since it's peppered with spoilers, we'll leave it up to you to decide whether you want to read any further on the subject.
I see this stock stalling around 350-360. Any price below that and it in my eyes would be a good buy. This stock has some good merit. Keep an eye on this as this is solid even for being an older title.
The next big PlayStation 3 exclusive will be hitting North America early next year, as Killzone 2 has been officially dated for February 27, 2009. Sony announced the launch date on today's episode of X-Play.
The cynic inside of me didn't want to believe the hype. How could I forget that the original Killzone on PS2 was backed by an overwhelming hype machine, powered by vocal drones declaring it a "Halo-killer?" When it was released in 2004, critics were impressed by the technical presentation but found very little substance in the gameplay. Four years later, with an early version of the single player game, I wondered if Killzone 2 would repeat history.
Installs, it seems, are becoming commonplace — expected, even. Many game require them, and some even offer optional installs. So when Seb Downie, QA Manager at developer Guerrilla Games, fielded questions about the dev's upcoming PS3 exclusive, the install one of course came up. According to Downie:
We are not planning to do any install... No install. Optional or otherwise.
On Gamespot's "On the Spot" web show 11/20/08, Gamespot Executive Producer Ryan Mac Donald, while talking about the Killzone 2 Beta, states that Killzone 2 comes out February 17th exclusively on the PS3. The statement can be found at 32:10 / 72:27. I can confirm this, as i have heard it.
This can't be real. It simply can't be. Sony and Guerrilla Games couldn't have created an end result that (almost) matches the infamous target footage revealed at E3 all those years ago. Could they? What we're seeing and playing today is the end result of that self-righteous rage, and we absolutely love it. We reckon you'll be pleasantly surprised by just how well Killzone 2 looks and plays. Haters be damned – you'd all best be prepared to chow down on a hefty serving of humble pie on this one..
Looks like SCE is putting everything behind KZ2, as it will now include custom soundtracks, along with the long list of other known features. PS3-Sense writes "There are just a few games for the PS3 which are featuring in-game music, also known as custom soundtracks. Seb Downie, QA Manager at Guerrilla Games, today announced that the multiplayer of Killzone 2 will also feature custom soundtracks"
In fact, every box on our, “What makes an FPS great” checklist was ticked. Conversely, our, “What makes an FPS bad” checklist was bare.
Basically, if you haven’t pre-ordered this by now, erm, pre-order it. Can’t say enough good things about it, if we’re being honest. Now we’re off to join the hour-long queue for another go. Turrah.
