Nine little racers make their way to the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace this Thursday, adding a whole new, much smaller dimension to Burnout Paradise gameplay. With the entire game built around normal scale vehicles, it should be interesting to see what kind of trouble we can get into once we get behind the wheel of these tiny toy versions.
After pampering us for the past year with huge chunks of free downloadable content, Burnout Paradise developer Criterion is finally ready to reach into our wallets again with Big Surf Island.
Big Shot Island is a huge new playground for Burnout Paradise, with an emphasis on huge jumps and plenty of opportunities to wreck your vehicles in creative ways. Originally slated to be free DLC, that has since changed. Why?
Upcoming DLC will deliver flying rides. Really.
Criterion Games Producer Jeremy Chubb and the official PlayStation Blog go hand-in-hand, it seems. Chubb made a post today announcing an exciting upcoming addition to the Burnout Paradise experience.
Starting next week, Paradise City is going to look a lot more like Sturgis. Developer Criterion Games today announced that its next free update for Burnout Paradise on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is planned for release next Thursday, adding motorcycles to the game's distinctive formula of vehicular mayhem.
Criterion is now "aiming," as it says, for an early August release for its long-awaited "Cagney" update to Burnout Paradise on Xbox 360. The developer had originally announced a July 10th release date, but now says August 4th is the "EARLIEST" (caps Criterion's) that it can be expected to be available.
Just to note, VGChartz has both Burnout Paradise titles tracking at just under 750,000 units each. This title has been around for a while now and I think forecasts above 1 million units are a bit bullish at this point.
Not content with just motorcycles and night driving, Criterion has announced that once they are done with the Cagney update, they will begin working on putting planes into Burnout Paradise.
Hot on the heels of the Bogart patch, which mainly consisted of bug fixes and a few minor features, the company has announced the official release date for the more ambitious Cagney update. On July 10th at 9AM UK time, Burnout Paradise owners will gain access to three new Freeburn modes, over 70 new Freeburn challenges, two new vehicles, 3 new liveries, and the long-awaited ability to create custom soundtracks on your PlayStation 3.
