During the recent Gamerscon new gameplay footage was shown of GT5. One of the interesting points that has come about is the limited damage system with the damage system being limited to NASCAR and Rally and not being as complete as the Forza 3 option.
From my perspective this is as dissapointing as Forza 3's lack of weather.
On the official Gran Turismo 5 site, the latest spec sheet for the game touts that its physics model "completely renders deformation from crash." Not scratches, not scuffs, but deformation. (Backing up what we saw in the E3 trailer for the game.)
The site also reveals that, in what seems to be an attempt to make up for the absence of spectacular crashes, cars will flip and even land upside-down in reaction to collisions. (joystiq)
Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi has once again hinted at a 2009 release for Gran Turismo 5.
First Gran Turismo 5 publicising began with Citroƫn's GTbyCITREON car, and then Yamauchi stated that they could release the game any time they wanted.
WHat may be in game footage? Why would they confirm that it is in game then? They have already confirmed weather, day and night and also nascar and rally racing. You dont need to see it in a video.
Whether it is ingame footage or not the point is we have not seen the game running live. The issue with the "have they or have they not collided" is an example of the difficulty of trying to base anything of what may be ingame footage.
Yes u have, the E3 trailer was in game footage and yamamuchi had confirmed it was. This game will be of the charts, day and night cycles, weather system, nascar and rally racing. I absolutely cant wait.
An interesting read but a lot is still speculation. We have not seen the game running live so to speak and we still have no firm release date.
Two areas covered such as damage and more than 16 cars for the NASCAR are both massively in the speculation category (for example the screenshot of the NASCAR field of cars only shows 16 and this is an important number).
July 9, 2009 - It's been a long time coming, but E3 2009 provided us with our first real look at Gran Turismo 5 in the form of a trailer. While GT5: Prologue gave us little hints at what we can expect from the final game, it's become clear after seeing the trailer that Prologue didn't even scratch the surface of what we can expect from GT5's release.
I have seen a couple of rumours suggesting that the game may release before the Xmas holiday period. This obviously will be very important and will help the sales enormously.
I am currently shorting this stock so my position is based on that but I am struggling to see this sell the 9+ million we currently predict even if the game launches in 2009.
GT5P has only sold 3+ million estimated, I understand this was only effectively the wolds most expensive demo (Although not any more now it can be had for only £18 in the UK) but I do not belive the PS3 can support sales above 5 million of anything currently. GT5 has real competition in Forza 3 brand loyalty aside this will make some difference especially if they do not make the game for the end of 2009.
I would be interested in peoples reasoning for predicting 9+ million other than it sold a lot on the PS2.
