Buying into this stock I was anticipating a release around 4-6 months into 2009! I am hearing news that the expected release date is going to be around christmas 2009! This is truly a LOOOOOOOOOONG investment stance!
Gran Turismo purists should know better than to get your hopes up about GT5's release date, but then, you're a Gran Turismo purist. You can't control yourself.
In an interview with Spanish financial site El Financiero, SCEE's James Armstrong has said that the company expects Gran Turismo 5 to be out next Christmas.
Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital and creator and producer of the Gran Turismo series, has apparently said that they are are still in talks with with some car makers, including Ferrari, to allow their cars to be subjected to crash damage in the game. The head of 'Ferrari Challenge' developer 'System 3' said earlier this year that convincing Ferrari to put damage on the cars was a "big challenge".
Perhaps the most most interesting tidbit to come from the interview was a comment Kaz made on the release date. When questioned if GT5 would hit in 2010, Kazunori laughed and said the title will be "released sooner than expected".
So GT5 in 2009? Sounds like Polyphony's down.
@Joe80,They should use current PS3 owners to do the modeling through Grid Computing just like Folding at Home...result, faster modeling AND a feeling by the community that the game might actually get finished!
@vGInfidel, It takes them 6 months to model a car for one thing. Tracks must take just as long, if not longer. They keep changing the controls, and every car has its own unique controls. Also figure in the AI improvements they're making and the online play, which they have never done before.
"In GT and GT2, both for PS1, a designer spent a day to model a car. In GT3 and GT4, for PS2, the same worker spent a month modeling the same car due to the increased amount of polygons. In GT5 for PS3, they require six months to do the same job," Yamauchi explained.
