@sagexsdx, I've been trading under the impression that the Starcraft II stock listed on the site is for the Terran Campaign game, which will have the online game included.
@sagexsdx,Since each game can be played seperately (ie...you don't need SCII to play the other two games) I think this stock is purely Starcraft II sales and thats it.
Blizzard's Vice President of Game Design Rob Pardo wants us to think about Starcraft 2's two followups, containing the Zerg and Protoss single player campaigns, as expansion packs, so does that mean they won't contain as much gameplay as the Terran-based initial game? Plus, you'll have to wait at least whole year between "expansions." Said Pardo, "With any luck, it would be like a year for each successive one, but that's going to be a target date, that's not a promise."
Yes - it is OK. A public company's primary responsibility is to turn a profit for shareholders. Look at APPL. In 2000, it was still essentially a niche software/hardware company. Then came the iPod. Then the Macbook. Then iPhone. Etc, etc.
Splitting the game into 3 parts is almost definitely a financial move on Blizzard's part. More sales, more development time, greater profits.
And I actually doubt this game will retail for anything less than was originally planned - probably in the $40-50 range.
@kspraydad, Features being added or taken away are much less significant than a game being turned into 3 separate products. As for my example, I was trying to suggest that it had occurred all within a close timeframe as eachother, and that everything was legally binded.
Oh well, I guess just letting the stock be is fine.
As for the PS3, well, right now I don't even have enough time for the games I own and I've made a point to not buy a PS3 until I finish these. So it may be awhile.
@Joe80,Joe..it is a stock that doesn't even have a release date...early investors should anticipate that features etc will be added or taken away from initial concepts...
As for your real world stock example...Early investors in Nintendo thought they were buying a card trading company and the bastards started making video games...see it happens in real life too!
