Huxley is a MMOFPS that uses Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3, AGEIA’s Novodex Physics API, WebZen’s networking technology to take gamers to a post-apocalyptic world inspired Aldous Huxley's most enduring masterpiece: Brave New World. In Huxley, humans have mutated into two opposing races: Sapiens and Alternatives. There is another tribe called Hybrid, a half-breed of Spiens and Alternative. Hybrid opposes everyone but themselves. Species fight for control of the world and its resources.
With so little press on this MMO, you may have forgotten or missed Huxley's premise. The first-person shooter MMO takes place in the near future in a world where humans are at complete peace. Things are not to remain that way. A cloud of Nuclearites destroys the moon and the debris trickles down to the Earth's atmosphere. Eighty percent of the earth's surface is destroyed and contaminated by radiation, forcing quick mutation and evolution.
Shouldn't this be trading at the PC stock's price point or like 10-20DKP above it. This is an MMO and I would think that it would sell more on the PC due to it being easier to use and a PC gamer would invest more time in building a character. Also, if this ends up being more of a hit in Asian than in Western countries, I don't think it will sell well on the Xbox360.
I am not sure if they announced whether it will be subscription based, but if it is then that would hurt sales a lot on the Xbox360, as Live members would not be a fan of paying a extra fee on top of their Live fee to play multiplayer for a certain game.
Due to this I see this game selling in the 45-55DKP range, from the information known now.
And here i was thinking this might prove vaporware. It's looking more interesting than I thought.. i like the maps.. if they are that, considering it's a MMO...
According to the report, a closed beta trial is due to commence towards the end of this quarter, with a public beta trial to follow either towards the end of 2007 or in early 2008.
definitely a long term stock right now. I expect a jump to at least 100 when we start getting more information and get closer to the release. The team is working on a very ambitious project and if they can pull it off right this could turn out to be an incredible game.
TeamXbox says that the game is not like a traditional MMO, that it is more like a first person shooter set in a persistent world with RPG elements. They also talk about various features, like having to equip yourself with weapons and armor in the cities. They also note that the difference between the look and control of the Xbox360 and PC versions is very minimal.
The article talks about the various features in Huxley, such as the weapons, the classes, the number of characters on a map (anywhere from 100v100 to 1v1), various multiplayer options (the game uses instances like Guild Wars), and how much customization options you get (on par with most other MMOs they say). For more customization of characters, things like "sprint, double-jumping, infrared vision, cloaking, and headshot prevention" only become available later on in the game.
