well a vendetta against me and a few other high ranked users like feelmyring and joe80 (and a few others).
anyway back on topic. i remember when starcraft was big and when i played... they had key generators and all to get a valid cd key for installing. but those keys didn't validate on the server. im assuming activision doesn't have an internal list of cd keys to query against? i would think all MP-centric games would have gone the same route...
Looking at this thread sagexsdx it certainly looks like somebody has some sort of vendetta against you. Hopefully the admins will pick this activity up.
I am suprised that a modern game is suffering so badly with cd duplication and cracked keys. These things are normally squashed very early on and the only time I tend to see keys like this used would be on a LAN.
Most games I play now the level of piracy and cheating is relatively low compared to say 3 years ago. The Battlefield series seems reasonable well bolted down with the authentification and punkbuster and Steam games in particular Valve ones that are VAC enabled cheating now just seems to be leveled at players who are just a lot better than you.
I'm surprised this article has not significantly affected the stock of CoD4 (PC). Piracy has always been a risk, but if it is affecting the online gaming as well, this is very bearish for the game's stock.
"...we pulled some disturbing numbers this past week about the amount of PC players currently playing multiplayer (which was fantastic). What wasn't fantastic was the percentage of those numbers who were playing on stolen copies of the game on stolen / cracked CD keys of pirated copies (and that was only people playing online)", the developer rep has said of Call of Duty 4 on blog FourZeroTwo.
But PC games sell very slow and looking at this one as its very high up in many charts even mixed ones with consoles and will stay up there this PC game is going to sell well but i still dont know if it will sell 1million.
