@Mushashi, I feel a bit lost on Dec IPO. VGChartz say 500K, SE says 1M ... Isn't there much more to loose than to win? Am I reading those predictions in a wrong way?
Based on your views, I would have to conclude that both the PS3 and PC SKUs are also likely to be undervalued, as European sales for both have more chance to be closer in ratio to sales of the X360 SKU due to the less-Xbox friendly nature of most Euro territories, as evidenced by the relative position in sales charts of the 3 SKUs.
I understand your point. My point is simply that we're likely well over 50% of sales predicted in only 2 months. Catalog sales traditionally account for substantial LTD far in excess of 50%.
I am not intending to say that they've already reached the sales and massively is likely an overstatement, but unless the sales absolutely drop off a cliff, 5M LTD for the 360 sku is going to be far too low a number.
That figure is for all SKUs of the game (X360/PS3/PC/DS). According to ELSPA data, X360 version was less than 600K sold and PS3 version under 300K sold, PC version passed 100K sales. The 2 home console SKUs make up bulk of those sales. The current GLS assumes X360 SKU captures majority share of sales across all available platforms already, so I do not know if I agree that it is massively undervalued.
1) UK alone is @ 1M (likely shipped) 2) Wedbush just released a note stating that they expect another 2M in sales for Dec on top of 2M in November.
Together, that's 5M not including an additional 65% of Europe (although UK is clearly the 360's strongest region by far).
With the 360 getting over 2/3rds of the sales, that would equate to ~3.4M units out of the 5M. Add in other regions and then consider historical sales for the next 10 months.
@sonycowboy, The obvious problems people are going to point out are: 1) They don't detail retail vs. sold through for 1 million 2) They don't detail PS3 or Xbox 360.
But you're probably right that the stock is underweight right now, but I don't know about "massively".
(The LTD of the 360 sku is looking massively undervalued at this point, IMO)
