@-THE-RAY-, I think COD4 will have a lot more traction past Christmas when compared to COD3. The game is becoming an online multiplayer favorite, which sustains sales if people continue to play it online. Most games that are single player focused get passed up for other single players experiences, but for those wishing to play with their friends, COD4 will be a must-buy.
COD5 looks like it will go the way of COD3. COD2 and 4 are the daddies of the online COD world. The others you mention only Halo 3 and potentially TF2 although this does not appear to have happened on the consoles will get that online loving feeling and the necessary community and clan love they need.
Bioshock also does not seem to met the requirement and I will reserve judgement on Mass Effect not being very familar with that game.
AC may be selling well but this does appear to be because of any fantastic online gameplay rather good marketing and the single player game so I fully expect AC to drop off in rather the normal traditionally way.
So in reallity relatively few games get the clan love that is needed for the prolonged trickle sale effect, GOW has it and so does COD4.
GOW even with the current crop of competition is still hugely popular online and because of that still genereates good sales even 1 year on.
@welshbloke,Gears of war was the first class shooter game when the XBOX360 came out. It had hardly any competition. But this deos assassins creed, halo 3,Half-Life 2 The Orange Box , Mass Effect bioshock. And we know there is going to be call of duty 5 probably going to be released this year.
@Quinionn,500k is 500,000 (five hundred thousand) 500dkp is 5,000,000 (5million).
Next year this will not get allot of sales because call of duty games are usually the ones that sell really well at christmas and than lie flat to next christmas.Another reason why this wont get much sales this year is because more compotition Grand Theft Auto IV, Star Wars The Force Unleashed, Unreal Tournament 3 + allot more.
i think it will goto around 500k because if you look at the trend for units sold, its already close to 300k, and I think that in the next year it will continue to do decently well. (its also winning a lot of game of the year awards, which might help sales)
Gears of War is currently at 509 on SX for lifetime sales this despite the fact the game is currently assessed at 4.82 million Sales to date on VGC with weekly sales still hovering around 15 and 20k.
Now GOW sales may well fall away completely when GOW2 is announced but as this game is what I would deem an online classic it will continue to garner reasonable but not fantastic sales for months to come helping the game nudge up to and just passing our prediction before GOW2 hits the mean streets.
This is also certainly going to be repeated with COD4 due to its brilliant online gameplay. So unlike most single player games it will not fall off as sharply and will hit a plateau of reasonable sales normally for a lengthy period of time. In addition both these games are candidates for bundling in the future making both susectible to spikes in sales.
Just my tuppence worth but I think 430 reasonable and more possible.
All that aside the marketplace is awash with good FPS titles on the 360 and you do wonder just how much more cash these guys have.
@Quinionn, Why do you think that? Since you're new, you probably don't know yet, but well explained posts are valued here, and you'll get upbids if you're persuasive.
How is this very going to hit 430dkp? ITs allready sold 3million in total (VGC have updated november period) Id expect it to sell 50dkp more for lifetime sales but thats still only 3.5million this needs to be shorted.
I'm sorry, I looked on the gamespot sites and I mixed up the two pages when posting. I agree with your analysis except I would add about 5-15DKP to both your min and max range.
