The changes made to the Call of Duty setting and options are a more than a welcome addition. It is not going to win over many new fans, as it doesn't truly bring any changes to the table; Infinity Ward has done it again. The campaign is tense and full of all that drama. Pair that up with one of the most impressive online offering we have seen in awhile and you have a winner. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warface is an excellent title and deserving of any accolades it receives within the genre.
@Gaara42, Um... I don't know what numbers you're looking at Gaara, but Gears of War did not sell more in December than it did in November. CoD4 is following a very similar sales pattern to Gears of War, only on a smaller scale initially, likely due to having so much competition in the FPS lineup including Gears of War and Halo 3.
Also keep in mind that while sales will likely go up week over week up until Christmas, there is usually somewhere between a 50-75% drop on the week after Christmas, which will also be appearing on the December NPDs (5 week month).
I think we can expect about 110-140k/week for the first 4 weeks and then about 50-75k for the final week in December, which would put this stock somewhere in the range between 50DKP-65DKP.
Cod4forums.com "Call of Duty 6, with the recent information acquired we believe this game is already started in development with Infinity Ward. Treyarch worked on the prior game (Call of Duty 3). Given that setup, it is plausible that Treyarch would now be working on Call of Duty 5 while Infinity Ward moves onto Call of Duty 6."
@Gaara42, this will be interesting to track. I think the environment will be a bit different this year as GoW was the driving force behind Xbox 360 sales last holiday. I would assume that most CoD4 purchases were from people who already owned the console. GoW purchases picked up as people picked up the 360 last December.
Do people expect that CoD4 sales will slow down going into December. Its seems that like Gears of War that sales should only increase from November to December (though in this case they might be smaller since it had such a huge launch month).
The bringer of all that is Call of Duty 4 news, Fourzerotwo has made a post on the official Xbox forums letting us in on an update/patch that will be coming sometime this month.
@ixaarii, We the people being the industry, and me being a person making up the industry. I say we are most defiantly done with boring ass WW2 games. Played out. If this rumor is true, this franchise just shot itself in the foot.
