i think a lot of people are forgetting what this game is going up against. many fans of the COD series enjoy it purely for online play ... now what will Xbox360 owners be playing online when this comes out? COD or Halo 3?
I think it is wrong to compare the COD2 sell through with COD4 based on sales at the time of the 360 release.
COD4 has 2 things going for it in my opinion which will lend itself to outselling its predecessors.
1. No longer WWII 2. The userbase is increasing.
This game is already generating a reasonable buzz around it and certainly everything I have seen to date would lead me to think this will be a big seller especially on the Xbox and PC markets.
Well, in that case, CoD3's lifespan is also a year, and us here at The Sim Exchange think CoD3, yet another WWII shooter game, will sell more than CoD4, the first modern turn for the series. I guess 2 mil. may be a slight overstatement, but I still think CoD4 will sell more than CoD3.
m-man- 2 Million copies is 20% of the current market. Seeing as how they are already at COD4, it will only be time before COD 5 is announced and released. I think the life cycle of this game is shorter than you imagine.
Remember that when the 360 came on the scene, it sold out and COD was one of its launch titles. It was also one of the demos at stores like best buy. These 2 factors helped sell the game, it was one of a few choices.
I think 2 million is pretty high, i would even go so far as to say that this stock is currently over-valued.
Currently, CoD3, developed by Treyarch, costs about 168 DKP. Since CoD4 is (1) developed by Infinity Ward, the makers of CoD and CoD2 (which I think is better than CoD3), and (2) is treading new ground instead of staying in WWII. Both of these reasons can attract 360 owners. So I think that CoD4 for the 360 should sell at least 2M copies.
