As of today, EA has said that there are no plans for a Wii version.
Considering all that would have to go into porting this game (getting the controllers to work with the Wii, etc), there's no way we'll see a Rock Band game on the Wii before next fall...if ever.
@Laoldar, It seems unlikely to me they'll want to cede the entire year to Guitar Hero 3 in the Wii music game category. I'd be surprised if it wasn't a mid-year game, like Guitar Hero 2 was last year on X360.
@feelmyring, I see what you mean now, but some people who own just the Wii may put off buying this title until there are copies of the game in stores that has the problem fixed instead of having to deal with getting a replacement copy. There will be a small effect from people getting it on other platforms, but not very large in comparison to overall sales numbers like you said.
@lstormy10, My point was that the convergence between people who must buy this game for Wii (as opposed to 360 or PS3), and people who will not buy this game because of a sound issue, is in my mind so miniscule as to not matter to the overall sales numbers.
Honestly, the mono sound isn't that big of a deal. You only really notice it during co-op and sometimes during star power (it can also vary depending on what sound setup you have...on surround I don't notice it much). Songs still sound good and the game is quite fun, so don't let it deter you from checking it out.
Also, Rock Band has not been announced for the Wii yet, and even if it ever does come to the system it will likely not be until late 2008 (probably after GH4 comes out).
@lstormy10, I can see feelmyring doesn't think it's a big deal, but I think it has at least a small effect. I know I've considered getting GH3 for Wii, but the combination of the mono sound issue not being fixed yet and uncertainty about whether GH3 Wii guitars will work with eventual Rock Band Wii or vice-versa tell me to hold off until things are cleared up and I know my money is being spent best.
@feelmyring, Though in the minds of people less into gaming, having one version supposedly superior to the other is something that will sway them to buy the version for a different system or wait until the problem has been solved.
@lstormy10, Any argument about the sound of GH3 Wii vs. any other GH is pretty much bunk, I think. If someone wants Guitar Hero, and only has a Wii, I don't think there's going to be anything (save availability) that will prevent them from buying this game. The people that wouldn't buy this game because of a mono output are either audiophiles who most likely have a superior system to begin with, or probably weren't really going to buy it in the first place, and are just looking for an excuse.
@JoshuaJSlone, Also you cannot forget that the sales have up until been hurt by the mono sound output issue that still has not been resolved completely and sales may increase after this issue has been resolved and the copies on store shelves no longer have the issue in them.
@Gaara42, Putting aside an argument about VGChartz as a reputable source of information, this is a series that's previously shown legs, has been reportedly hard to find on Wii, and should continue selling well both as new shipments come to market and new people join the Wii userbase. I imagine it will continue doing pretty well until Guitar Hero IV and to a lesser extent Rock Band Wii start sapping away sales.
