Now we all know vgchartz reputation, so that doesn't have to be discussed here... their numbers put this at 1.12 million right now. S'all I'm sayin'. Significant?
Has anybody been able to find any up-to-date numbers on this game? Just over a million seems pretty low, even for PS3 version.
Probably isn't the best method of doing it since not everybody is online, but I figure if we can just see how many people are on the PS3 leaderboard for a non-DLC song it should give a very rough estimate. I just can't figure out how to get to the end of the damn list! It's probably so inaccurate it wouldn't even be worth the time anyways...
[Nyko has] gone ahead and released their own guitar, one that avoids the whole mess and gives PS3 owners a single peripheral that'll work on both games. Dubbed the Front Man, it'll come bundled with a dongle that lets you select which game you're playing, and the guitar will respond with the requisite compatibility.
The recent announcement by MTV Games/Viacom's Harmonix division that Activision is blocking Sony from releasing a patch and their plea to enable Rock Band software to work with Guitar Hero hardware paints a very misleading picture.
In fact, Harmonix and its parent company MTV Games/Viacom recently declined Activision's offer to reach an agreement that would allow the use of Guitar Hero guitar controllers with Rock Band.
Two weeks ago, Harmonix created a software patch for the Sony PLAYSTATION 3 version of Rock Band that allowed for guitar compatibility and support for third party peripherals, including enabling use of Activision's Guitar Hero III controller with Rock Band. The compatibility patch was submitted, approved and had been scheduled for release by Sony on Tuesday, December 4. Unfortunately, Activision objected to the release of the compatibility patch.
This is at 370k in WW sales according to VGC. I don't expect it to double its sales after the holiday shopping is over. I think this game is probably a bit frontloaded for sales anyway, particularly on PS3.
Standalone wireless guitars for Guitar Hero 3 on all platforms will be available in early 2008 according to a recent press release from Activision.
Wireless models are currently only available to Playstation 3 and Wii owners as part of the retail package, which includes the game and not at all to those who own the XBox 360 or PS2 versions.
