When a game is simultaneously released on the DS and Wii (or DS and Gamecube, etc), how often does the DS version sell as well as the home console one?
This game should be around at least 150DKP or more near the price of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii, as this game is on a system with nearly five times the install base as that game. Also, this game has both Mario and Sonic, more importantly though it has Mario, which will help it sell much better than if it was a generic Olympic game. Also, as this article states, Miyamoto will be supervising the game, so it might actually be good, which would help sell the game to the hardcore crowd who might not otherwise pick this up.
This game should've started higher than the Wii version because it has four times the install base, but I'm not complaining, the lower this starts the more I can get out of it :)
I expect this game to be a really solid title and it will sell really well. 'Olympic' games were really fun on the older consoles until they were put aside for more extreme sports.
He does state that Nintendo is "directly involved" and specifically mentions Miyamoto as "on the job". Also states that it's online, but that could've just been wishful thinking (I would assume he was speaking specifically about the Wii version). Being set for later 2007, having online in both versions wouldn't be that unusual.
According to their press release (Seen at http://gonintendo.com/?p=15198 ), Nintendo is publishing it in Japan, while Sega is doing so in America and Europe. Joint development perhaps?
