@starship, I believe you are underestimating Europe and overestimating North America. I remember a graphic in a Nintendo presentation where they showed Europe sold more than twice Brain Age copies than North America. I would say it is at 5m/1.4m/3.5m right now. In any case, this stock is very undervaluated.
@apujanata, I think it's at ~ 10m worldwide at the end of 2007. Japan ~ 5m NA ~ 1.5m - 2m Others ~ 3m
I think we will see more than 10.5m for it in the upcoming quarterly Nintendo results.
These type of games sell steadily for a long period of time (Notice how the original Brain Age still sell extremely well) so expect more than 15m for it when all is said and done.
@ErikAston, I think this game is already at more than 10.5m. This was the most popular game across Europe during Christmas. People will see how this is way too underpriced when Nintendo releases its quarterly results soon.
I think it's interesting to note VGC's data on this game and its predecessor.
At week 106, Brain Training aka Brain Age 1 was selling ~50k to make it 7th worldwide that week with a total of ~7.2M at that time (if you can believe their figures)
It is now (6th) at approx ~11M while More Brain Training (5th worldwide for week ending 5th january) aka Brain Age 2 is in its 106th week with approx 9M sold worldwide so far. It looks like these games will go on selling for a long time and 10.5M could yet be too low for this game
Cognitive neuroscientist Dr. Jason Braithwaite from the University of Birmingham :
"There is no conclusive evidence showing that the continued use of these devices is linked to any measurable and general improvements in cognition."
Note : different article than the kotaku one, since it is coming from different source.
I hope the bearish here know that the game is already over 7 million and moving units in Europe like if it is given away for free. Mid January Nintendo will most likely announce 8.5 Million + shipped. And there is no end in sight.
In humans, exercise improves what scientists call "executive function," the set of abilities that allows you to select behavior that's appropriate to the situation, inhibit inappropriate behavior and focus on the job at hand in spite of distractions
