"The details printed in Official Nintendo Magazine 21 regarding Mario Kart Wii were healthy speculation on our part and are in no way an official announcement from Nintendo."
Quote: "Official Nintendo Magazine in the UK has reported that Mario Kart Wii will feature online racing for up to 16 players, with all tracks from the DS getting a Wii makeover, alongside brand new Wii-specific courses."
http://gonintendo.com/?p=24423 A scan from the UK Official Nintendo Magazine claims that the game will feature stunts, classic DS tracks re-done with Wii graphics and up to 16 player online battle mode. Hopefully this will mean a huge roster of racers to choose from.
Told you, didn't we? But knowing that Mario Kart Wii was going to be announced at Nintendo's E3 press conference didn't make us any less excited.
When it came to the thing actually being revealed - in precisely 30 seconds of mouthwatering footage - we were cheering on the edge of our chairs just like you, gawping at the promising new tracks and classic old ones just like you... squeezing our eyelids shut and wishing that we could be transported ahead to 2008 in order to play it right now, just like you.
Dissecting the E3 trailer for tidbits on the game: more animated courses, hop/boosting is back, one screenshot shows 12 racers (up from 8) and could hint at 12-player online, possibly a new stunt feature. NGamer will have a larger preview in their next issue out this week.
The rumours were right about Mario Kart Wii showing up at E3 last week, they were wrong about it coming out this year--Nintendo tells CVG it has enough big games for Christmas and wants to hold something back for the typical New Year "void".
