@apujanata, Oops, thanks for the info, but I meant (and wasn't very clear at all about meaning) numbers for the hardware installed base at the time of release for the different Mario Kart titles.
I checked out the site and the numbers look to be very complete and up-to-date (seriously, updating N64 software numbers still is pretty dedicated). Thanks for the site link!
@lstormy10, LTD # : Mario Kart DS: 2.902.103 Mario Kart SC: 938.175 Mario Kart DD: 825.894
You can use this URL to find "Pure, Famitsu Based" # for first week and LTD.
I know the creator of this gaming site, and I can vouch for his data (no intentional change, and updated frequently).
This person (known on NeoGAF as Moor Angol) can also read Japanese, and have Japanese Girlfriend :). (although this latest fact does not really affect his Japan number directly, it is still an interesting factoid).
@sagexsdx, For comparison, first week # of other Mario Kart game : Mario Kart DS: 224,411 Mario Kart SC: 261,797 Mario Kart DD: 179,230
Please note that Mario Kart Wii 300K # is first day, not first week. Usually, to arrive at first week #, you double the first day # (so Mario Kart Wii probably will have 600K first week #), but there are lots of games that doesn't follow the "double rules".
Mario Kart Wii has sold over three hundred thousand units in its native country of Japan, reports are suggesting. According to gaming website Jeux France, the title has racked up the sales after being out for just over twenty-four hours.
I don't normally post review scores but according to a poster on NeoGAF, the May issue of EDGE contains a Mario Kart Wii review giving it a score of 6.
A few other interesting games also seem to be reviewed. For reference, the last Mario Kart on the Gamecube got a 5.
Iwata: Today, I would like to "ask" three individuals who were in charge of the development of Mario Kart Wii. Many Mario Kart games have been released over the years, and this will be the sixth game in the series.
Satoru Iwata (President of Nintendo) talks to Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideki Konno & Kenichiro Ashida about Mario Kart Wii development.
CVG writes: "Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has given Mario Kart Wii an impressive score of 10/9/9/9 in its review, according to German website GameFront.de.
For those not up to scratch with their maths, the scores tot up to 37/40, which is slightly more generous than some reviewers have so far awarded it."
