VGC has 130k for this game which has to be wrong since the NPD data for the first 2 months is 130k alone. The NPD data seems to imply the stock is overvalued though, unless people are seeing something I am not. I don't see the momentum to get beyond 400k copies.
With almost two weeks in the January NPD giving it 81k of sales only, it would be a miracle if it reaches 250k in the US. Niche "hardcore" titles are very front-loaded and I wouldn't be surprised if the sales drop off tremendously on the February NPD, 40-50k perhaps?
I'm guessing 400k LTD for this title: 200k in the US, 150k in PAL, and 50k in Japan.
In Week 5 2008 of the UK charts, AW:DS dropped out completely from the individual formats list and dropped 2 slots to number 13 in the DS List.
It seems like it's not doing well in UK, the biggest market in EU. Historically, AW games do not do well in Japan. It needs tremendous numbers in the US to reach the 660k we're predicting for the lifetime sales of the game right now.
This week's charts, with data taken from January 17th, 2008, show the just-released Advance Wars: Days of Ruin taking a surprise victory in North American DS sales. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded.
For the uninitiated, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is a turn-based strategy game that features cartoon-style graphics but possesses a surprising amount of strategic depth. Days of Ruin, the fourth game in the series and the second for the DS, continues this fine tradition and will entertain gamers of all types.
One thing not noted by this article is that first 25 person will get FREE Advance Wars : DoR game.
And the word "massive" might be a little bit hyperbole, since only about 50 person are shown on the first picture.
Don't bid up the GLS of this game because of this picture. I just wanted to share this picture which might be interesting, since in US, not many people line up (except on black friday and christmas time, IIRC).
It turns out people are big fans of Advance Wars. How do we know? Well, folks don't just hang around in the bitter cold for nothing, and from the massive line outside of the Nintendo World store in New York, we're guessing people might have been a little enthusiastic.
We'd like to call these expressions "happy," but there seems to be a dose of "can we get the hell inside already, 'cause it is cold, y'all" going on here.
