Talk about a game bombing, this is one of the biggest bombs of the year so far. VGC has it at 130,000 worldwide (70,000 NA). Even with a degree of error this is overvalued. Selling less than 5,000 a week in NA & less than 2,300 a week in EU. PS3 is even worse.
Sometimes a game can sound great on paper and then just not be very much fun in practice. The Club is one of those titles. It's something different in the shooter genre which is a welcome happening in the flooded market, but unfortunately the gameplay isn't as gripping as one would hope out of a title that tries to channel the arcade spirit.
When Sega and developer Bizarre Creations first discussed The Club, I figured it was going to fall into the same bag as the Halos, Call of Dutys and other shooters before it. Even the first time I saw it, it seemed to be “just another shooter.” That’s not to say it’d be a bad game, but just that there wasn’t going to be much to set it apart from its predecessors in the genre.
Within The Club, Bizarre Creations will redefine and refresh the mechanics of 3rd person action shooters just as they have shaken up the racing genre. The Club focuses on addictive and rewarding gameplay that tests your skills to the limit and offers a relentless pace never before seen within the genre.
Shooters are big, serious business these days, but The Club is having none of it - you pick from a range of pre-rolled hard-men caricatures with varying speed, strength and stamina statistics and then gun your way at pace through a series of grimy environments racking up kills as quickly as possible to build up combos.
