If and I guess this is a big IF they manage to get the controls working through the controller and at the moment the reports are favourable then this game should score well somewhere in the mid eighties.
The PC version had a reasonably rabid bunch of followers and so sold well. It did also score well through metacritic stabilising on 87.
The problem for me though is I do not see the fanbase for this game surpassing the numbers of C&C.
I'm also going to chime in that I doubt a port of a made for PC RTS is going to sell all that well on the 360. Given the massive scope of SC, I really don't think this will translate well into a controller-based game. I'd say mid 70s on the Metacritic future and sub-1 million on the GLS stock.
first off, yeah i agree with you on the sales thing. i really doubt it'll sell 1.4 mil.
however in terms of controls, c&c3 wasnt THAT bad =) i enjoyed the controls. i felt they did a decent job with the controls to make it easy to build and control things. the only complaints id say with the 360 controls is that it's harder to micro manage units. and also it's hard to build with multiple queues because the second queue is only accessibly by actually selecting the second building.
but overall the game was very playable in my opinion
@Bleezy,Are you sure? My cousin got CNC3 (command and conquer 3) for xbox360 and it was rubbish. class for the pc though.it ended up selling about 1/3 of what the pc version sold. This sold 80dkp so 27dkp.I dont know about this one but 140dkp is a bit big so im on the short for now.
Hellbent Games is trying to be an exception to that general rule with its upcoming Xbox 360 version of Gas Powered Games' Supreme Commander. I got some hands-on time with the game this week, and am happy to report that it seems to be a step in the right direction--primarily because of a feature that remains largely unchanged from the PC version: strategic zoom.
"...the Xbox 360 edition will feature exclusive new units, updated maps and new multiplayer modes, and gamers will be able to take the fight online against players from around the world via Xbox LIVE. In addition, a revised, console-specific control interface and HUD will give gamers unprecedented strategic power over their armies."
I am so excited for this and Halowars to come out!! I believe between the two, a workable RTS control scheme for the 360 will emerge! YES! I'm stoked for the compeitions and stuff for this genre on the console! :)
I really can't imagine how this will play well on the 360. I'm sure the reason the 360 was chosen is the relative ease of porting the game. However, the PS3's support for keyboard and mouse is a much better way to play an RTS.
Officially confirming statements made to us by Chris Taylor of Gas Powered Games, publisher Aspyr Media has announced that PC real-time strategy title Supreme Commander is in the works for Xbox 360.
Last month, Taylor characterized Xbox 360 as "the platform of choice for moving stuff from the PC."
