I bought some stock in this but I doubt it will sell all that well on the ps2 because of all the current READ DISC ERROR messages people have been getting. I would probably buy this game on the psp no doubt.
DBZ:BT2 added another 32,500 copies sold in the States. At 530,250 copies sold here and 433,250 copies in Japan, that's already 963,500 copies. This is according to VGCharts.
Zukaus' posted numbers from Gamasutra a month ago that are higher so I think those numbers include Europe as well.
VGcharts has DBZ:BT2 (PS2) selling 497,750 copies through Jan 07. The numbers Zukaus' submitted from Gamasutra are a lot higher, I assume they include Japan and the rest of the world. That means this stock is undervalued as the sales have already met the stock price.
Namco/Bandai just reported earnings for the quarter ending December 31st. Looks like sales were really good for Dragon Ball Z the #1 title. They are reporting 1.03 million copies sold last quarter for the PS2.
Combine that with the sales in Japan, 427,750 copies through Jan 6, you've got 861,250 copies sold already. Japan is only drifting along with 4k sales a month but US should still go strong for a few more months.
The PS2 version of this game sold 165,500 copies in its first month. This is about how well the first one did last year in October '05 (161,000 copies). That game continued to sell the month afterwards and did a pretty big December. The data disappears after that (I think VGcharts just doesn't have it) so its hard to compare beyond december.
