Fortunately, it looks like the investment made by Insomniac Games has paid off since Resistance 2 is their fastest-selling product to date. The Playstation 3 exclusive is closing in on selling 750,000 copies in the United States alone. This is highly impressive considering that the beloved development studio also produced the popular Spyro the Dragon and Ratchet & Clank series throughout the years.
Applying the same logic as posted on LittleBigPlanet, let's assume R:FoM2 has achieved 50% of its US sales in the first 2 months. That would put it at a 1.2 million forecast.
I would assume sales in Japan are lighter due to the gaming preferences there. FPS just isn't as popular. So lets assume US sales make 50% of global, putting the title at a 2.4 million estimate. The GLS stock is slightly ahead of this. However, this is one of the headline titles of the PS3, so the legs may be longer.
If this was a forum this would be considered flame bait. Looking at the discussion thread it most people have already taken the bait.
I confess to liking Metacritic for my aggregate scores and I know it is not everyones cup of tea but the Ayes do not seem to have it according to them.
What Resistance 2 does seem to have is big multiplay games and a huge coop play (8 players?). It will certainly be one of the best games of 2008 for sure.
I suppose the next debate is whether we refer to GOW2 as a FPS or d 3rd PS. If GOW2 falls into the later then I think you could certainly say R2 was potentially the best FPS of 2008 (on the PS3) that still leaves COD4WW which would get my vote after putting some time into the Beta (PC).
@soupsoup, In the co-op campaign there will be three classes: the medic, the soldier, and special ops, each with different specialized abilities. The player will get to level up their characters to unlock new guns and character skins. The player can play as any three and will not lose any progress if they switch class, the max level one of the classes can reach is 30.
My experience of FPS games online is limited to a few games of Halo 3 back when I had a free month of Live. What do they mean when they talk about maxing classes? Do you get stat bonuses like in an RPG?
Halo had some kind of rank system but I couldn't really see the point. Probably because I was rubbish at it.
