@vGInfidel, The pictorial they created, which showed where all the gameplay hours are allocated in those 420 showed that the hours to get their are not just rehashing the same thing. Unless you don't consider online a unique experience each time you play. You can see the picture here.
Eurogamer Portugal writes: "The note does not mean perfection, it means the quality of the game that distinguishes itself from others in its genre. The epic campaign alone would be enough to ensure its high quality but the Insomniac gives us the competitive and cooperative modes that elevates the game to a higher level. Resistance 2 is an epic that deserves to be part of any Playstation 3."
Sounds lovely, except I only play a game on normal settings then never return, which will be a shame if this level of work has gone into it. I would imagine for me this game would last as long as any other game of this type.
I am a multi player beast so it will be the offerings in this department that will impress me. I played COD (legitimately obtaining all my ranks) for the rank the weapons and the challenges and this did provide and eliminate of replay but ultimately it is how this game plays on-line that will keep me coming back for more.
@kspraydad, I really wonder IF there is a married person who can "complete complete" this game. I remember tha my husband played FF VII (we have been married about 2 years by that time), and I got sick of looking at that game screen everyday for 4 weeks or more (since he has work, he only played nighttime or saturday and sunday). He only clocked about 70 hours on that game, and I am bored to death with it.
I don't think I can withstand a 400 hours game, and I also don't think my husband can stomach it. He complained that FF VII "ultimate weapon" is too difficult, and give up half way.
@vGInfidel, According to game creators Insomniac it will take over a 100 hours to obtain all there is to get in the offline singleplayer and cooperative modes, as well as roughly 75 hours to max each of the three multiplayer classes online. Equaling up to roughly 400 hours all up, and this isn't even including the competitive multiplayer.
I presume this is a case of "oh, you have to play the game yet again to unlock ...". Meaning that actually there isn't 420 hours or anywhere near, just about 10-20 that you can replay 40 or so times to get all the content, and the fact that you have to will get annoying in the end.
I'd recommend everyone short 850 shares right now as this will drop like a stone. MGS4 only sold a million (not including bundles) in its first four weeks (approx)...R2 is not going to sell 2.35 million in 4 weeks..nor will it sell 50% of its GLS in the US alone and in its first 4 weeks.
* And by complete, we mean complete complete. Sony says — and you may already have heard this figure tossed around — that there's some 420 hours worth of play time in Resistance 2 required to unlock everything.
